Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, 'My way is hidden from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over by my God?' The Lord cares for all things. Even the smallest creatures share in His universal care, but His special attention is on believers. "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him." "Their blood is precious in His sight." "Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His saints." "We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." While He saves all, there is a special salvation for those who believe. Let this truth bring you comfort. You are His special care, His treasured possession, watched over as the apple of His eye; His vineyard, tended day and night. "Even the hairs of your head are all numbered." Let His special love calm your troubles and ease your pain.

"I'll never leave you, nor forsake you." God says that to you just as He did to saints long ago. "Fear not, I am your shield, your very great reward." We miss much comfort by thinking of His promises only for the church as a whole, instead of personally. Believer, hold fast to His word with personal faith. Hear Jesus saying, "I've prayed for you, that your faith will not fail." Picture Him walking on the waters of your trouble, saying, "Fear not, it's me. Don’t be afraid." Those sweet words of Christ are meant for you. May the Holy Spirit help you feel these words as spoken just to you. Forget others for a moment. Accept Jesus' voice as addressed to you and say, "Jesus whispers comfort; I can’t refuse it; I'll sit under His shadow with great delight."

Closing Prayer

Father, as evening comes, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. In Jesus' name, Amen.
