November 4

Real success in serving God begins with recognizing our own weakness. If we march into battle relying on our own strength, believing our own might will win the victory, we're setting ourselves up for defeat. God won't go with those who trust in their own power. "It's not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit," says the Lord. Those who boast of their strength will return in shame.

To serve God, we must serve in His way and with His strength, or He won't accept our service. What we do without divine help, God won't honor. He won't keep what comes from earthly effort alone. Only what is sown by Him, watered by grace, and matured by His love is worthwhile. God will clear out what we have before He fills us with His best.

God's river is full of water, but it doesn't flow from earthly springs. He uses only the strength He gives. Are you feeling weak? That's good. Awareness of weakness is the first step to receiving God's victory. Our emptiness prepares us to be filled; our low points set the stage for being lifted up. "When I'm weak, then I'm strong. Grace is my shield and Christ my song."

Closing Prayer

God, as we start this day, fill us with Your love so we can share it freely. In Jesus' name, Amen.
