"To whom be glory forever." This should be the Christian's single desire. Everything else must support this aim. You might hope for success in your business, but only if it helps you say, "To Him be glory forever." You might seek more gifts and graces, but only so, "To Him may be glory forever." You're not living rightly if your motives aren't solely for your Lord's glory. As a Christian, since you're "of God, and through God," live "to God." Let nothing stir your heart more than love for Him.

Let this ambition fuel you. It should be the foundation of every endeavor and your motivation when zeal fades. Make God your only focus. Know that where self begins, sorrow follows. But with God as your supreme joy, it doesn't matter if He chooses ease or pain. Let your yearning for God's glory grow. If you praised Him in your youth, don't settle for the praises of then.

Has God blessed your business? Give more as He gives. Has He given you experience? Praise Him with stronger faith. Is your knowledge expanding? Sing more joyfully. Are your times happier? Have you recovered from illness, and has sorrow turned to peace and joy? Then praise Him more, offer more in worship. Honor Him with your life, saying "Amen" to this doxology through personal service and increasing holiness.

Closing Prayer

Father, in the freshness of morning, help us trust You fully, even when the path isn't clear. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
