"One like the Son of Man" appeared to John in Patmos, and he noticed that Jesus wore a golden sash. Jesus was always ready for service on earth and continues His ministry before the eternal throne, wearing the "curious girdle of the ephod" as a priest. We are blessed that He hasn't stopped His loving work for us. Our greatest safeguard is that Jesus continually prays for us. His work never ceases; His garments are never loose, as if His role has ended. With His golden girdle, Jesus shows the superiority of His service, the royalty of His person, the dignity of His state, and the glory of His reward.
He no longer cries in humility but pleads with authority as both King and Priest. Our case is secure with our enthroned Melchizedek. Jesus sets an example for us. We must never relax our commitment.
This isn't the time for resting. It's a time for service and battle. We must tighten the girdle of truth around us. It's a golden girdle, our richest ornament. We need it because a heart without truth and Spirit-brought faithfulness becomes easily entangled with the world and tripped by temptation. It's useless to merely possess Scriptures if we don't bind them around us like a girdle. They should encompass our whole being, keeping our character in check and giving strength to our entire self. If Jesus in heaven doesn’t loosen His girdle, even less should we here on earth. Stand firm with your loins girded with truth.
Closing Prayer
Lord, as this day closes, fill us with Your love so we can share it freely. For Your glory, Amen.
