Jesus Christ himself IS the covenant. He is both its sum and substance. And as one of its gifts, he belongs to every believer. Think about that. He is your property.

Believer, can you even begin to calculate what you possess in Christ? "In him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." Stop and consider that word "God" and its infinity. Then meditate on "perfect man" and all his beauty. Everything Christ has—as both God and man—is yours. Out of pure, free grace, it has been handed over to you as your permanent inheritance.

Our blessed Jesus, as God, is all-knowing, everywhere present, all-powerful. Does it not flood your heart with comfort to know that these vast attributes are completely yours? Has he power? That power is yours—to hold you up, to strengthen you, to defeat your enemies, to preserve you to the very end. Has he love? Listen: there is not one drop of love in his heart that does not belong to you. You may dive into the immense ocean of his love and say of it all, "It is mine!"

Has he justice? It may seem like a stern attribute, but even this is yours. By his justice, he will make absolutely certain that every single promise in the covenant of grace will be secured for you. No one can snatch away what justice itself guards.

And everything he possesses as perfect man? Yours. As the perfect man, the Father's delight rested on him. He stood fully accepted by the Most High. O believer, do you realize what this means? God's acceptance of Christ is YOUR acceptance. The very same love the Father poured out on his perfect Son, he pours out on you right now.

Everything Christ accomplished belongs to you. That flawless righteousness he wrought out through his stainless life—keeping the law perfectly, making it honorable—it is yours. It is credited to your account.

Christ is in the covenant. Christ IS the covenant. And Christ is yours.

"My God, I am yours—what divine comfort! What a blessing to know that the Savior is mine! In the heavenly Lamb, three times happy I am, and my heart dances at the sound of his name."

Closing Prayer

Today, whatever you face, remember: Christ's omnipotent power is your power. His perfect acceptance is your acceptance. His infinite resources are your resources. Live like someone who owns everything.
