God's promises aren't meant to be cast aside like waste paper. They're meant to be used. His promises are like minted coins, meant for circulation. Nothing pleases God more than seeing us bring His promises to Him and say, "Lord, do as You have promised." We honor God when we trust and plead His promises.
Do you think God becomes poorer by keeping His promises? Do you think He is less holy when He grants holiness to you? Imagine He becomes less pure by washing away your sins? He invites us, "Come, let's reason together. Though your sins are like scarlet, they'll be as white as snow. Though they are crimson, they'll be like wool." Faith takes hold of His promise of forgiveness, not pausing to wonder if it's true, but going straight to His throne, saying, "Lord, here's Your promise. Do as You have said." And God replies, "It will be as you have asked." A Christian dishonors God if they don't take His promises to Him. But when we go to God boldly, saying, "I've nothing to offer but Your word," our desires are met. God delights to fulfill His own promises. Don't let them sit unused. Draw the sword of promise and wield it with confidence.
Don't worry about reminding God of His promises. He loves to hear the needs of His children. It's His joy to give. He's more eager to listen than we are to ask. Just as the sun never tires of shining or a fountain of flowing, God naturally fulfills His promises. Go to Him and say, "Do as You have said."
Closing Prayer
Lord, as this day begins, help me trust You fully, especially when the path is unclear. For Your glory, Amen.
