April 17

The world constantly asks, "Who will show us any good?" There is a search for satisfaction in life's comforts and riches. But an awakened sinner knows there's only one true good. "Oh, that I knew where I might find Him!" When guilt grips the heart, even the wealth of nations won't satisfy. Only finding Him matters. It's a blessing when all desires focus on one thing.

With many desires, the heart is like stagnant water, unhealthy and unfocused. But when all desires channel toward one goal, it's like a river nourishing the fields. Blessed is the person with one desire for Christ, even if it's not yet fulfilled. If Jesus is the heart's longing, it shows God's work within.

This person won't settle for going through the motions. They'll reject anything that isn't Christ Himself, saying, "I need Jesus; nothing else will do. I'm thirsty for Him; don't offer me a dry cup. I want Jesus!" Is this how you feel?

Do you have one desire, and is it for Christ? If so, you're close to the kingdom of heaven. Is your greatest wish to be cleansed by Jesus' blood? Would you give everything for assurance in Him? Despite your fears, take heart. The Lord loves you, and soon you'll walk in freedom through Christ.

Closing Prayer

Jesus, in this quiet moment, anchor our hope in Your unchanging promises. We pray in Your name, Amen.
