April 18

When Jacob faced Esau and his armed men at the brook Jabbok, he urgently sought God's protection. He clung to God's promise, "You said, 'I will surely do you good.'" What power this plea holds! Jacob was reminding God of His own words. God's faithfulness is an altar we can lean on. But when we also have His promise, it becomes an even stronger support: "You said, 'I will surely do you good.'" Hasn't He spoken? Will He not fulfill it? "Let God be true, and every man a liar." God always keeps His word.

Every promise from His lips stands firm and will be fulfilled. Solomon used this powerful plea when he asked God to remember His word to David at the temple's dedication. When someone gives a promissory note, their honor is at stake—they must fulfill it, or their credit falls. God's reputation is never in doubt. He is always on time.

Search the Bible and compare it with the experiences of God's people. You'll find them completely aligned. Many have testified, like Joshua, "Not one word has failed of all the good things the Lord has promised." When you have a divine promise, you can claim it with certainty. God intends to fulfill His promises; He didn't give them just to soothe our fears. When He speaks, it's because He plans to do as He has promised.

Closing Prayer

Lord, help us trust You fully, even when our path isn't clear. In Jesus' name, Amen.
